How we find them

Every signal. One traveler.

A traveler planning a trip leaves a trail: the articles they read, the trip they search for, the newsletter they received from a brand like yours, the site they keep coming back to. We put all the signals together, find the travelers who are about to decide, and trace every click, inquiry or booking back to the signal that found it.

New campaign

Tell us what to run. We build it, run it and report on it here.

1 · What it's for

You pay per click whatever you pick. This decides what we count and what your card leads with.

2 · What it says

Format

A picture, a headline and a line of text, in the feeds on news and travel sites.

Headline

0 of 60 · 34 to 45 reads best; some sites cut it shorter

Text

0 of 250 · optional: a line under the headline, where the site shows one. 180 to 200 reads best; a phone shows about the first 100

Button

Suggested for a link to your own site. Pick another if it fits better.

Trip

Also make this for

Optional. One campaign per trip you tick, each with its own reference: the same ad, audiences, budget and dates. If the headline names the trip, change it on each afterwards.

Picture

Ours, or your own. Your own picture never leaves your browser in the demo.

3 · Where it sends people

Page address

We check it loads before anything runs, and keep checking while it does.

4 · Who sees it

We build the audience for this campaign

From the page it sends people to and what you tell us below: the signals that fit it, each with the ad network’s own count. You see who we’ll reach, in plain words, on Audiences before anything runs, and what each part of it brought once it does.

The plan for this campaign

  • Searched for Japan tours in autumn
  • Received newsletters from small-group tour operators
  • Read about Kyoto's temples and the autumn colours
  • Already pricing a Japan trip for October or November

Anything about who you want?

Optional, in your own words: who to reach, who to leave out, what matters about them.

Departure airports

Optional. Where your travelers leave from; we reach people within easy reach of each.

Search demand

Read from Google Trends for this trip's own searches. You see them, and the places we lean toward, under Search demand.

Leave out

Your own lists, past bookers most often. The campaign is not shown to anyone on a list you pick.

Ages

Optional. Leave all off to reach any age.

Markets

5 · How it runs

How it runs

It runs every day on your budget until you pause it, its end date passes or your credit runs out.

Daily budget

The demo shows it in clicks a day. In your portal it is in your own currency, and you see about how many clicks it buys at your price.

Devices

Start

End date

Optional. Without one, it runs until you stop it.

6 · Before you send

0 of 2

The rules that apply to this ad, from where it runs and what it says. Answer each; we check the same list at review.

US lodging prices include every mandatory fee, and fares are the full price.

The FTC's rule on hidden fees and the DOT's full-fare rule.

Everything in the ad is accurate and the page says the same; nothing promises what the trip does not deliver.

The one rule every market shares.

7 · Anything we should know

Notes for our team

Optional. A booking deadline, a price that changes, a word you never use.

Smart build

for tour operator campaigns
  • Name the route and the number of daysTravelers comparing tours look for both before they click.
  • Show the place at its best, in its seasonThe picture sells the trip; the itinerary closes it.
  • Give the group size and the next departureA date gives someone about to decide a reason to ask now.

In your portal, these come from how campaigns like yours have done. Here they are examples.

The top 3 of 8 audiences. Every inquiry is traced to the audience that found the traveler first; we never see names or email addresses.

The ceiling

Most advertising keeps paying for the same people.

Every audience has a ceiling. Bid on the same segment month after month and it costs more and answers less, because those people have seen the ad a dozen times. Growth means finding the next travelers already looking, before everyone else is bidding on them too.

  • 81%of senior marketing leaders say their company targets the same audiences as budgets grow.
  • 46%feel pressure from finance to prove that new spend reaches new people, not the same ones again.
  • 92%would move budget to the open web if they could follow one customer from the first touch to the sale.

What we target

Eight signals, in any combination.

We choose them for each campaign from your page and your brief, and show you who we will reach, in plain words, before anything is spent. None of them uses a list of names. On top of any of them, we can lean your campaigns toward the places where people are searching most for your trips or your destination this week.

  • Already in the market

Travelers already researching, comparing and pricing where you are or what you sell this week, not people who once liked a beach photo.

  • What they search for

The trips, places and dates they type into a search box. The plainest sign there is that someone is planning.

  • Received newsletters from brands like yours

People who received a newsletter from a brand like yours in the last 3 to 90 days. The shorter the window, the stronger the intent.

  • What they read

Your ad beside the destination guides and travel stories they are reading, at the moment the idea is forming.

  • Where they live

Anywhere you pick: locals near you, the cities your visitors come from, or the towns around the airport or port your trip leaves from.

  • Who they are

Declared age and gender, alone or layered on any signal here.

  • Back for a second look

People who have already read a page we built for you, back in front of you before they choose someone else. Only when your campaign lands on an advertorial page we build and host.

  • Like your best customers

New travelers who behave like the ones who already inquired or booked on a page we built for you, so the next audience comes from your best one. Only on a page we build and host.

The closed loop

Whatever you count, traced to the signal that found it.

With our tracking on your page, or on a page we build for you, every click, inquiry or booking is matched back to the audience that reached the traveler first. You see which signals bring them, and on Managed your account manager moves the budget toward them while the month is still running, not after it.

This is the report: not how many people saw an ad, but which people clicked, arrived, and inquired or booked where we can count it, and how each was found.

From the Kestrel Journeys demo account: a made-up brand with sample numbers, not a client result. Green: above the account’s average of 2.2%. Open it → (opens in a new tab)

What we never do

We never see who they are.

No names, no email addresses, no lists to buy, sell or lose. The signals are anonymous, and the matching of one traveler across sites and devices happens inside the ad networks we buy from, on identifiers that never reach us. We never receive personal data about the people we target.

Where the signals come from. From the global native advertising network your ads run on. Its code runs on the sites it partners with, so it can tell which brands’ newsletters and offer emails reach someone’s inbox, and what people search for. We pick the brands and categories; the network finds the people. Its own rules bar targeting anyone under 18, or anyone by health, religion, ethnicity or sexual orientation.

And we count what they do. With our tracking on your page, every click, inquiry, call or booking is matched to the signal that found the traveler, and you can check it in your own analytics.
